Good afternoon,
there is a lens by Leica, which is a multi-immersion objective for oil,
glycerine and water - and hence sub-optimal for either of them - and I
have used it with MP on fixed preparations with bright flourescence and it
produced acceptable images. Since it's multi-immersion the cover slip
issue is not so dramatic. In other words: The 170microns of n=1.5...
material also can be replaced by oil, glycerin or water, albeit at
different thicknesses in layer so. Instead of the cover slip thickness
designation, it, hence, shows the dash on the barrel. The lens, however,
has a short working distance - depending on the refr. index of the
immersion, of course - and I do not know whether it's suitable for your
specific in vivo application.
The lens type is "HC PL APO 10X/0.40 IMM", Product number 506 512. We
bought it it 1998, I do not know whether it still is available or whether
there is any successor.
Best wishes,
Johannes
