.17mm PEN membrane slides from PALM

Search the CONFOCAL archive at
http://listserv.acsu.buffalo.edu/cgi-bin/wa?S1=confocal

Hi folks,
I'm wondering if anyone out there has ever used the .17mm PEN membrane
coverslips from PALM for immunofluorescence labelling prior to
microdissection.  The company sells two versions of the .17mm coverslips,
one "4 sided sticky" and one "2 sided sticky".  Are both versions stable under
immunofluorescence labelling, or does slight lifting of the PEN membrane occur
after the processing steps?

Thanks,
Dave Anchel,
Toronto

I use the .17 PEN membrane slides for immunofluorescent labelling rather
frequently, without any problems, for what it's worth. I have noticed
that  the PAP pen can dissolve/tear the membrane rather easily, so avoid
that. I typically give them a dip in ethanol then let them dry on a
slide-warmer for a few hours before microdissecting so that they're
completely dry, etc...
