2-P specrtum

Search the CONFOCAL archive at http://listserv.acsu.buffalo.edu/cgi-bin/wa?S1=confocal
Hello all!

recently I have found a formula in a paper to calculate the emission wavelength of 2-P spectra, which is slightly greater than the excitation wavelength divided by 2.I'm just wondering it is  a valid formula,if so ,I'm using 800 nm wl and 680 nm filter which is not passing less than 600 nm,but I have good signal in red?!

regards
Sarah

Sarah,

The emission spectrum for 2P excitation is typically exactly the same
as for 1P, so I cannot quite imagine what this formula is about.  Perhaps you
could quote the whole formula?

Perhaps you could also give the full spec of the dye and the filter
you are using since I'm not quite sure what you are saying here.  If you
have a BP 680/160 filter it will pass from 600nm to 760nm which clearly
covers the red and far red.
