During the American Society for Cell Biology Meeting (Dec. 2-4, 2007),
Bartek Rajwa of Purdue University Cytometry Laboratories will present a 3D
Imaging workshop.   You do not need to be registered for the Cell Biology
meeting to attend this workshop.  All are welcome.  For details, please

3D Image Acquisition, Processing & Visualization for Optical Microscopy
Presented by Bartek Rajwa - Purdue University Cytometry Laboratories

Date: December 3, 2007

Time: 8:30pm-10:30pm

Where: Washington Convention Center Room 201 - Washington, DC

Cost: No Charge

Modern microscopy provides powerful tools for studying samples varying from
sub-cellular structures through cells to tissues. Effective use of these
techniques requires in-depth knowledge about image acquisition, processing,
and visualization. The goal of this workshop is to demonstrate
state-of-the-art hardware and software tools for collection, processing, and
visualization of multidimensional images.

The workshop will address the following topics:

. Fundamentals of electro-optical detection (CCD architecture, dynamic
range, noise, evaluating & selecting a CCD)

. 3-D image processing (limits of optical resolution, point-spread function,
deconvolution algorithms)

. Visualization of multidimensional datasets (3-D reconstruction, surface
and volume rendering, visualization of spectral and time-lapse images)

If you are interested in attending, please contact Kathy Hrach at
