Dear colleagues,
The Advanced Imaging Center at HHMI Janelia Research Campus is excited to announce the addition of two long-awaited instruments:
1. Focused ion beam scanning electron microscope (developed by Harald Hess):
Specifically engineered to obtain 3D images at a combined volume size, spatial resolution, and imaging speed previously unattainable by commercial electron microscopes. Its ability to image whole cell ultrastructure at nanometer resolution is unparalleled in any other EM technique.
2. MOSAIC - Multimodal Optical Scope with Adaptive Imaging Correction (developed by Eric Betzig):
This system allows cell biology imaging to be performed in context with adaptive optical correction. This instrument combines several imaging modalities that are vital for visualizing and quantifying complex biological systems. In one single system, MOSAIC offers multiplexed capabilities (as listed below) combined with adaptive optics:
-Lattice light sheet
-Expansion microscopy (ExM) imaging with lattice light sheet
-3D structured illumination super resolution
-Multifocal image scan/pixel reassignment super resolution
-Two photon (2P) point scan -2P Bessel fast functional imaging (upright objective)
-2P Bessel light sheet
-2P Bessel point scan
-Phase imaging
-Patterned photostimulation
-3D single-molecule localization
These two systems will be available in our next proposal call, which will be announced next week on August 15.
