Best regards, "The MicRoN core (Microscopy Resources on the North Quad) is a light microscopy core at Harvard Medical School that serves ~75 different groups throughout the Longwood Medical Area. The core currently hosts 14 instruments including widefield, TIRF, spinning disc confocal, scanning confocal, multiphoton, and super-resolution SIM-TIRF. We would like to invite applications for an experienced Advanced Imaging Specialist. The successful candidate will be part of an enthusiastic team of microscopists to assist and train researchers in their advanced imaging and data analysis needs. The Advanced Imaging Specialist will work closely with the MicRoN users to provide expertise on experimental design, develop and implement advanced imaging protocols, as well as provide data processing and image analysis solutions. S/he will train graduate students and postdoctoral fellows in the core instruments, especially in the more advanced imaging techniques. Additionally, s/he will maintain and customize the microscopes and software in the MicRoN core to meet advanced users' needs and allow novel imaging experiments to be performed. The Advanced Imaging Specialist will assist the Core Director in organizing and teaching light microscopy courses and workshops. The successful candidate must have a PhD in Biology, Biophysics, Optical Engineering, or related field. S/he must have a wide understanding of various imaging techniques and hands-on experience on imaging biological samples along with expertise in image processing and analysis (ImageJ, Imaris, Matlab…). S/he will be costumer service-oriented, demonstrate willingness to help our researchers and have excellent communication skills. Experience working with users in a core facility and experience in cell culture and immunostaining is preferred.
