The Nikon Imaging Center at Harvard Medical School (NIC@HMS,
https://nic.med.harvard.edu/) is seeking an experienced optical microscopist
to work with HMS researchers who need help with advanced imaging techniques,
such as FRET, FRAP, laser ablation, microinjection and single molecule
imaging. Reporting to the Director of the NIC@HMS, the person in this
position will work closely with NIC@HMS users (primarily post-docs and
graduate students) to develop and implement advanced imaging protocols, and
to troubleshoot problems with both the microscope and the user's specimens.
This person in this position will customize the microscopes and software in
the NIC@HMS to meet advanced users needs and allow novel imaging experiments
to be performed. They will also develop and maintain a database of imaging
protocols and instructions to facilitate training of future advanced imaging
users, and organize an advanced imaging journal club for NIC@HMS users.
*Requirements:*
*Education*: PhD in biology or related discipline required, or equivalent
work experience.
*Skills and Experience*: Five or more years experience in advanced light
microscopy techniques such as live cell imaging, TIRF, and confocal.
Extensive experience with specimen preparation such as cell culture,
immunofluorescence, microinjection, and/or working with fluorescent
proteins.
*Exceptional multi-tasking abilities, problem solving skills, organization,
self-motivation and patience are a must! *
