Assistant Professor of Cell Biology Department of Biology and Microbiology South Dakota State University
The South Dakota State University Department of Biology & Microbiology invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Cell Biology. This is a 9-month full-time position beginning August 2017, or as soon as possible thereafter, with a workload expectation of 50% teaching and 50% research. The position is part of a growing emphasis in cell biology in the department and on campus and would ideally contribute to the expansion of research in mammalian models. Recent investments in research at SDSU include functional genomics and sequencing cores as well the BioSystems Networks and Translational Research (BioSNTR) center. These investments include expanded capabilities in fluorescence and confocal microscopy, tissue-sectioning, laser capture microdissection, next generation sequencing (NextSeq and MiSeq) and bioinformatics, live-cell, super-resolution and multi-photon microscopy, flow cytometry and cell sorting, and expertise in molecular biology, including CRISPR-based gene editing. Collaboration opportunities exist with researchers in multiple departments on campus and at regional institutions such as Sanford Research in Sioux Falls. A component of the research effort is supported by the SDSU Agricultural Experiment Station (AES) (
