Department of Biomedical Engineering - Assistant Specialist
Salary:  $37,740 - $40,212


Start Date:  January 7, 2008, position will remain open until
filled                

Applications are invited for an Assistant Specialist with the Department
of Biomedical Engineering at the University of California, Irvine. We seek
a qualified candidate with experience in lab management with broad
interest in fluorescence instrumentation.  Under the supervisions of the
Laboratory For Fluorescence Dynamics director and principal investigator,
the applicant will manage the optical core facility, help with user
training, prepare purchase orders for equipment and supplies and maintain
the optical equipments of the lab.


The initial appointment will be 12 months.  Renewal of the appointment
will be contingent upon availability of adequate funding and performance.
The position requires a B.S., M.S. or equivalent.  Good communication and
writing skills are required. The applicant should have broad experience
(college level) in physics, biochemistry, optics and computer programming.
Specific expertise in manipulating biological samples is needed.
