BABB yellowish and ok?

Dear all,

I am having a user at the facility who cleared a mouse heart just nicely
with BABB. Then the BABB bottle was empty and she ordered a new one.
While the first one was clear when coming out of the bottle, the second
one was rather yellowish. The clearing did not work as well as the first
time. While this may have other reasons, the yellowish BABB raises
suspicions, but we don't have much experience yet.

Is the yellow color a reason to be concerned? Customer service of the
provider says it is normal that it may be anywhere between clear and
yellow. I have doubts.

We are talking about Benzyl Benzoate from Sigma, # B6630, lot 108K1206
(was clear) and lot MKCH9379 (was yellow). If you have good experiences
with BABB from other suppliers (that deliver to Germany) we would be
interested.

Hello Steffen,

I myself and my coworkers have been clearing hundreds of hearts in
 ten years, and BA and BB that we have been purchasing from Sigma
USA always was clear. However, I do not think that slight yellowish
color would affect clearing because the heart itself contains
amber/orange
color chromophores. If yellow BABB failed in clearing just one heart

I would relate it to the variation of BABB clearing efficiency that
depends
on the protocol and heart condition.

Would you be able to look up which order number from Sigma you used?
There are like ten different ones and maybe we did not get the best
suitable one.
