Yet another conference that appears to have no or very few women speakers.
Alberto, in case my reading of unfamiliar names is incorrect, could you give us the fraction of the speakers that are male. -----Original Message----- From: Confocal Microscopy List [mailto:[hidden email]] On Behalf Of Alberto Diaspro Sent: den 2 oktober 2015 15:49 To: [hidden email] Subject: Bioimaging in Genoa - Open access - Great Talks ***** To join, leave or search the confocal microscopy listserv, go to: http://lists.umn.edu/cgi-bin/wa?A0=confocalmicroscopy Post images on http://www.imgur.com and include the link in your posting. ***** Wednesday 14 and Thursday 15 October 2015 OPEN ACCESS conference in Genoa on Bioimaging Sala del Maggior Consiglio , Palazzo Ducale, Piazza De Ferrari, Genoa. The omission is not conscious, but the remedy has to be conscious -- this goes for any of us organizing symposia or meetings. Fortunately there are easy solutions -- e.g. include women in the organizing committee<http://mbio.asm.org/content/5/1/e00846-13>, and invite more women. If the problem is that women don't "come to mind," beyond two or three that probably get too many invitations to accept them all, speaker lists can help jog the memory. A compendium of lists is here<https://mcb.berkeley.edu/labs/king/node/11>. As we are in a rather interdisciplinary field, I feel that even these lists don't cover microscopy as well as they could. Does anyone know if there is a comparable list of women in advanced microscopy & image analysis?
