Hello Everyone,

We recently acquired a 1999 micro radiance AG2 confocal lasers scanning
microscope. We have been working on getting it to run but have hit a block.
when we initialize the lasersharp 2000 program to begin using the laser, we
get several error messages.
These are the error popups,

-Path not found

-Failed to initialize 1394 channel

-Initializing firewire (SVIS) failed

-Error 1168 hardware problem in channel initiation

We are using the same desktop computer, and programs that were used it
originally.
We do not have or know what the firewire is supposed to connect to, I have
tried looking online for troubleshooting but there is nothing on the error
readouts. If anyone has had experience with this system please let me know.
We are very excited to have this equipment and eager to use it. Thank you
all for your time.

Firewire is a high-speed bus - an Apple product - that the computer uses to connect to the scan head.  There will be a firewire board plugged in to the control computer, and a firewire cable connecting the board to the scan head.  Check that these are all present and correctly plugged in.  If there is a problem with these the system cannot run.

Thank you for the reply. It seems that the FireWire controller board is
missing. We are now looking for potential boards. Do anyone have any
recommendations in particular for the board. Perhaps brand or specs? Thank
you again.
