Search the CONFOCAL archive at http://listserv.acsu.buffalo.edu/cgi-bin/wa?S1=confocal
I am thinking of using Bitplane software.  Can anyone give me their experiences with the software, customer support, etc.?

Hallo Suzy,

I suppose that by "Bitplane software" you mean Imaris (and not
AutoAligner - their other product).  The question is what do you want to
use it for? For certain tasks (3D-rendering, etc.) it is really nice,
and the ImarisXT module  (through which you can communicate with your
own Matlab code) gives you lot of flexibility. Nevertheless, there are
certainly tasks for which I'd choose another software. The Bitplane
people are generally quite helpful.

No commercial interest.

Hey
Bitplane was probably the first software developper to make the effort
of being truly multi system oriented (could read data from Bio-Rad,
Zeiss, Leica, mlutiple-tiff etc.....).  At the time that was one of the
reason that decided me and I remained faithfull since then.

For me Imaris remains the better (and faster) choice for 3D/4D
visualisation with multiple rendering options that one can combine in a
single "scene".
The support has always been highly reactive and competent, and you can
follow each open case on their website. True the software has not always
been bugfree (who is!) but bugs are usually taken care off and the
present version is very stable.

Of course there is now numerous other developpers on the market and you
have to make your own choices.

Cheers
Eric
