Job Description

Role: Bitplane Regional Sales Engineer
Location: within N-NW Germany
Defined territory: Nordics (Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland) and N-NW Germany (Nordrhein-Westfalen, Niedersachsen, Bremen, Hamburg, Schleswig-Holstein, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern)
Reports to: Bitplane Sales Manager (EMEA)

Bitplane, the world’s leading interactive microscopy image analysis software company, is looking for a highly motivated regional sales engineer to join our team of experts in the key technologies such of 3D microscopy, image restoration, visualization and analysis. The primary role of the Regional Sales Engineer is to develop new business for Bitplane’s Imaris 3D/4D advanced image analysis software by providing information on the product and solutions to customers’ key endpoints. The successful candidate will work with researchers in leading universities and industry to advance their image analysis capability and understanding of their area of interest.

Key responsibilities:
 Meet/Exceed agreed individual quarterly and annual sales targets.
 Support the sales objectives by researching customers’ image analysis needs and providing solutions in a professional and effective manner.
 Demonstration of the software and onsite work with the customer by organizing presentations and workshops.
 Develop new business relationships within the defined territory and strengthen existing customer relationships.
 Follow-up on all sales opportunities within a timely manner.
 Contribute to sales campaigns to increase productivity and sales.
 Continually compile market information/intelligence on dedicated regions with a view to providing market feedback to assist in the shaping of future product development and company strategy
 Represent and promote Bitplane in a professional manner at trade shows and conferences within the designated regions.
 Maintain all sales related record in the CRM system and effectively manage projects to accurately forecast for the territory. Regularly attend weekly/monthly sales meetings and offer feedback and suggestions to improve product solutions.
 Any other duties as may be reasonably required from time to time by your line manager


Person Specification (essential requirements unless stated):

EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS

Essential
 BSc degree or equivalent in life sciences
 2 years hands on experience with confocal microscopes
 3 years hands on experience in a life science laboratory

Desirable
 Hands on experience with 3D image analysis software
 PhD or equivalent in life sciences
 Direct knowledge of grant/funding cycles procedures

PROFESSIONAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Essential
 Minimum 2 years’ experience in a sales role
 Experience in selling or supporting technical and high-value products
 Strong background in life science techniques, applications and markets

Desirable
 International sales experience in confocal, wide field, live-cell imaging and advanced image analysis.
 Experience with sales via distributors and VARs
 Sales experience in microscopy market

BEHAVIOURAL SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

Essential
 Fluent in all Microsoft Tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
 Proficiency in the use of the PC/Mac
 Excellent oral/written communication skills which are adapted to customers with varied levels of expertise.
 Well-developed presentation skills both one-on-one and in front of a large group of audience.
 Excellent customer relationship management and ability to build good business relationships across a wide
variety of cultures and personalities.
 Ability to develop conceptual ideas of customers into product sales.
 Strong interpersonal skills and pleasant personality.
 Advanced problem solving ability.
 Personality that embraces intellectual challenges.
 Great team player.
 Fluent in German and English
 Able to work outside core hours when required.
 International travel (>50% of working time expected)

Desirable
 Good language skills in one other major European language
 Keen interest in scientific advances and innovations in image analysis and advanced optics
