Choice of filter cube.

Search the CONFOCAL archive at http://listserv.acsu.buffalo.edu/cgi-bin/wa?S1=confocal

Hi everyone!

We want to see eGFP in infected cells in order to target those cells for patch clamp experiment.  We want to buy filter  cube(excitation, dichroic and emission filters ).  We have 3 offers:

1-Semrock (Fitc-3540B-00)
2-CHROMA (U-N41012)
3-Olympus  (U-M6503)

Do you know which one offer the best quality/price taking account that we want only to target cells for patch.  we do not image those cells.

Thanks  for your help!

Louis

**Commercial Response**

Hello Louis,

I would like to suggest alternatives for the Semrock filter. The Semrock filter set (Fitc-3540B-00) that you have specified in your email below is not the best (optimal) filter set available at Semrock for looking at eGFP emission signal. From Semrock, I would recommend the following sets for your application:

(1) BrightLine® GFP-3035B Filter Set (http://www.semrock.com/Catalog/BrightLine_GFP-3035.htm)
High performance sets. For example, average transmission of the emission filter >93%.
Catalog price at $645 for the set.

(2) BrightLine Basic™ GFP Filter Set (http://www.semrock.com/Catalog/BrightLine_BasicGFP.htm)
Best value set. For example, average transmission of the emission filter >90%.
Catalog price at $495 for the set.

Hopefully, you find this information helpful in making a selection. Please contact me off the list, if you have additional questions.
