Reminder to join us next week for a Nikon/Abberior co-hosted webinar on "Insights into Synaptic Plasticity using STED Microscopy".
Date: Wednesday, Feb 10th, 2021
Time: 12:00 pm EST / 5:00 pm GMT / 6:00 pm CET
In the first half of this webinar, Joachim Fischer, PhD (Abberior) will introduce the theory of STED and its implementation in the compact STEDYCON system. The optical design of the STEDYCON as well as its imaging capabilities will be highlighted.
In the second half of the webinar, Dion Dickman, Ph.D. (Associate Professor of Neurobiology at USC) will present new insights into synaptic organization and plasticity using STED microscopy. The Drosophila neuromuscular junction as a model system to illuminate fundamental principles of structural and functional synaptic organization and plasticity will be discussed. Followed by new findings using STED microscopy that reveal active zones (sites of neurotransmitter secretion at presynaptic terminals) to be substrates for homeostatic modulation.
