Our primary application (right now) would be single cell manipulation (moving them) but an existing future possibility for an (easy) upgrade for a force measurement system would be also appreciated. Does anyone have experience with commercial systems? During my search I have found solutions from Thorlabs, JPK, Elliot scientific, Aresis, MMI and Zeiss (though for a Nikon scope this is probably not an option). Is there any other source existing? ). It would be also nice if the tweezer could be used in combination with Micromanager (used for imaging). Some posts smention also Arry but this company seem to disappeared. Thanks for any feedback! The system does everything it's supposed to do - two traps, one controllable with the mouse, plus lots of options for force measurements. As complicated as an optical tweezers system can be, this one is actually reasonably easy to use. The construction and design is v. high quality, with lots of built-in alignment and calibration features that work well. We have had it for nearly 4 years now and have had zero issues on the JPK side. Even lifted the whole system onto dolleys, pushed it into the freight elevator and moved it up 4 floors, did a couple of the calibration procedures, and had it back to original spec in an easy afternoon. Initial focusing can be a bit of a bear and at least on our system new a new sample substrate (ie 25 mm coverslips vs 35 mm dishes) means a new sample holder. Thankfully that's easy to do on the 3D printer. (Fluorescence) imaging at the same time is a bit of a kludge on our system, but that is more reflective of the local group that designed it rather than JPK. I wouldn't doubt someone has a more elegant way to do that.
