Dear all

I’m posting this on behalf of Prof. Krishna Rajalingam at Mainz, who is looking for a core facility manager for the advanced light microscopy imaging unit he is establishing in Mainz.

The Paul Klein Centre for Immune Intervention (PKZI) is a newly founded research centre at the University Medical Centre of the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. In collaboration with Leica, the Research Centre of Immune Therapy (FZI) has established a high-end light microscopy unit encompassing an in vivo multiphoton imaging set up with standard confocal, time lapse and TIRM imaging units. The Core Facility will offer a variety of light-microscopy related services to the members of PKZI and the research community in Mainz in general.

The newly established microscopy unit is looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, collegial and experienced Core Facility Manager at the level of group leader, whose responsibilities will include:

Maintenance of the core facility and day-to-day operations of all the microscopes
Co-ordinating the training of users, assisting them with image analysis tools and contributions to publications
Assist with project planning and implementation
Organise workshops, proactively and productively contribute towards further strengthening of the unit
Inform and integrate novel developments in imaging in the best interests of the local scientific community
Synergize with the other established imaging platforms of the JGU and Rhein Main area in general

Job requirements:
PhD in natural sciences
Extensive experience in microscopy and previous expertise in running a Core Facility for imaging is an advantage
Publications in specialist and in journals of general interest. Please indicate your contributions to the key references
Strong written and verbal communication skills in German and English
Leadership skills and previous experience in supervision of colleagues
Experience in contribution to grants will be a plus

A generous salary package at the level of a group leader (E13/14) is offered, initially for a period of 3-5 years, with the possibility of getting tenure.

Please contact Krishna, Prof. Rajalingam [hidden email]<mailto:[hidden email]> for more details and see below
