Dear list,

we'd like to ask for your comments about how you handle registrations
for (internal) courses and workshops you are offering.

Until now, we are using a mixture of emails, spreadsheets, (internal)
wiki etc. to deal with registrations - but there must be some better
tool to do this.

Things we're after (I know we're asking a lot):

* allow self-registration of attendees
* allow admins to confirm / reject registrations
* send emails to all registered people
* possibly connect to an LDAP for authentication
* self-hosted / OpenSource

We have done a little research on the web, and found a few things here:

http://blog.capterra.com/free-event-management-software/

In particular those ones do look promising, does anyone happen to have
experience with them, especially considering our goal?

* http://osem.io/
* http://openconferenceware.org/

Many Thanks,
Niko

Hi Niko,

Google Forms works really well. You can customize the form to look as fancy or as plain as you like.

Everything is tabulated for you in Google Excel sheet, and you can accept/reject, highlight all the e-mails and just paste those into your e-mail

You can use the same service to collect evaluations after the workshop.

And it is all free! Can’t be more open-source than Google.

Hi,

sounds really nice, whereas I have to say we are a wee old fashioned
here in Europe. Normally we avoid to share personal data with the cloud
and in particular the google-verse and in these even more special times
with any IT services connected to the US.

Sorry for being straight and frank on this.

Best, Ralph

Dear Ralph

In that case I would advise to use ninja forms and Wordpress locally installed.

We have now a workshop with applications open using this methods. Have a look

biomethods.site   …. Now I’m just advertising ;)

One major added value is that you can add code upon submission for, e.g., have a web-service to feed information to a billing platform.

Best
