Dear Imaging Aficionados,
I've been using qdots for 8+ years and just recently we've noticed a catastrophic drop in quality. The qdots have the same absorption but they are not as fluorescent. We use single molecule detection and find a few really bright qdots (possibly clumps) but the majority are really dim. This seems to coincide with the 'vivid' labeling on the tubes. Most problematic are 585 & 655 quantum dots.
Have you seen the same? And any thoughts on what the vivid technology is?
I have a call in with Invitrogen but thought I would poll your ideas and also warn you to look out for this.
Cheers
Neil
