Dear list,

I would to like share my experience with repairing our old
DeltaVision Core and personal DV that was rendered completely
nonfunctional after dissasembly/move to different building/reassembly.
Now after two years the system is finally restored back to a working condition
and has been running without any problems for 6 months.

Here is short summary of the most useful findings:
1. There is support/help available from list members, GE Healthcare (GEH)
(i.e. current support company, and third party experts/companies.
2. Parts and even whole systems are available from
GEH (some even for free), researchers still keeping retired
systems, and third party experts/companies.
3. Moving the system myself (within the same building) proved to be
the most cost and time efficient solution. After deep analysis of GEH
instructions and recommendations  I modified and simplified the move plan
minimizing disconnections and practically no disassembly (i.e. only several
cables/tubes running between microscope and computer tables were
disconnected that allowed to separate these two tables for the move.
The total move time (from shutting down the system in the old room till
successful test imaging in the new room) was 3hrs !

Short explanation why restoring the broken system took so long: mainly because
of budget constraints, we did not want to spend $10k for the third party services,
and GEH initially (in 2014) was very slow to provide any support, and still wanted to
charge us $4k that I never agreed to pay. The situation changed
dramatically when in 2015 Davis Hitrys became regional representative of GE.
With his direct work on the system (diagnosis, alignment, search for parts)
and finding orginal DV experts inside GEH the system was restored to normal working
condition practically for free (no commercial interest).

If somebody is interested in details of cheap/efficient repair or move of the
DeltaVision Core and personal DV system please contact me off list.
Also I would like tom thank all list members that shared their experience
with DV system.

Happy New Year for everybody,
Arvydas
