To join, leave or search the confocal microscopy listserv, go to: http://lists.umn.edu/cgi-bin/wa?A0=confocalmicroscopy ***** Hello friends at Nikon, We need to mount a Thorlabs cage system where the transmission lamp (the one on the top) attaches with the Nikon Ti microscope. We intend to machine a part that attaches the cage system with the mount that holds the lamp in place. I have put in a request for the CAD drawing of the mount with which the lamp mates with a local representative, but he has not or not been able to respond. Is it possible to have the dimensions? cheers Shalin website: http://mshalin.com Research Associate Bioimaging Lab, Block-E3A, #7-10 Div of Bioengineering, NUS Singapore 117574 (M) +65-84330724 |

The have some lamphouse port adapters that might do the trick: http://thorlabs.com/NewGroupPage9.cfm?ObjectGroup_ID=2665 <http://thorlabs.com/NewGroupPage9.cfm?ObjectGroup_ID=2665>(Scroll down for the four Nikon adapters). If you can find something off-the-shelf it can save you the time and expense of machining. You can also email the Thorlabs guys for advice; they're usually pretty good at figuring out these sorts of things. On rare occasion you can even prod them into developing a new product if they think it will be particularly useful. I attached a Thorlabs cage system to a lamp housing for the older Nikons that had self-destructed. I haven't bothered getting an adapter for it yet and I was in a hurry. It still gives decent under-stage illumination and I use it to focus on my samples before switching to confocal/multiphoton. To join, leave or search the confocal microscopy listserv, go to: http://lists.umn.edu/cgi-bin/wa?A0=confocalmicroscopy ***** Hi Craig, My understanding is that the Thorlabs adapters are for the fluorescence path. In case of Olympus, we find that both lamps (transmission & fluorescence) use the same mounts and we are able to use Thorlabs adapters. But, the mounts are different in Nikon's case. cheers, Shalin On Fri, Feb 4, 2011 at 2:40 AM, Craig Brideau <[hidden email]> wrote: > ***** > To join, leave or search the confocal microscopy listserv, go to: > http://lists.umn.edu/cgi-bin/wa?A0=confocalmicroscopy > ***** > > Do any of thorlabs' stock cage-to-Nikon adapters work for you?
