Dry mounting agarose sections?

Hi,
I have cells which have been cultured in 4% agarose gel (3D culture) and
then fixed, embedded in wax and sectioned at 15um thick. I want to image
them using a high NA oil immersion lens and was wondering whether it would
be better to ‘dry mount’ my sections instead of using a mounting medium
(such as prolong gold) which would add another RI mismatch to the optical path?
