Listers,

Not exactly a confocal question...

Last week I had a visiting scholar referred to me for advice about doing FISH on chromosome spreads from plant cells. This was very much out of my area of expertise. I have put him in contact with a few people at our university, but I was wondering if there are some experts out there who might be able to suggest some reading material or offer up a protocol for him to review?

Thanks in advance!
Doug

Dear Doug,

Please refer to Jenkins G and Hasterok R "BAC 'landing' on chromosomes of
Brachypodium distachyon for comparative genome alignment" Nature Protocols
volume 2, pages 88–98 (2007). The protocol worked for me perfectly well.
Otherwise, I would suggest your friend contacting prof. Robert Hasterok at
the Department of Plant Anatomy and Cytology, University of Silesia,
Poland( [hidden email]) - he has a great expertise in FISH on
plants.

Best wishes,
Hanna
