FOCUS ON MICROSCOPY 2020
Osaka, Japan, April 5-8, 2020
incorporating:
33rd International Conference on 3D Image Processing in Microscopy
32nd International Conference on Confocal Microscopy
45th Meeting of the Society of Laser Microscopy, Japan (SLM-45)

Dear Colleagues,

Wednesday, January 15, 2020: deadline abstract submission for FOM2020.
The Osaka, Japan conference is nearing. Please submit your abstract by this date.
(On request of colleagues in Asia/Australia the earlier deadline of Jan 14 was moved to present Jan 15)

One page abstracts for oral and poster presentations can now be submitted through the conference website: http://www.FocusOnMicroscopy.org, where the conference registration is now open and also hotel information is available.
Abstracts, for poster presentation only, can be submitted up to Friday Jan 24 2020

After the successful FOM2019 conference held in London-UK last year, it is a pleasure to announce FOM2020: the next in a series of unique interdisciplinary meetings on advanced and multi-dimensional -mainly- light microscopy and image processing.

The conference will take place at the:
Osaka International Convention Center (also known as Grand Cube Osaka)
5 Chome 3-51 Nakanoshima
Kita-ku, Osaka 530-0005, Japan
Located<https://goo.gl/maps/484KbXG4g1TzHtZG6> adjacent to the underground Nakanoshima Station.

The FOM2020 Osaka conference will start on Sunday morning April 5 with (free) tutorials starting at 10:30 hrs. After lunch, regular sessions commence at 14:00 hrs followed by a flash poster presentation session at 16:00 hrs. The plenary opening session will start around 17:30 hrs followed by a Welcome reception.

For further details please visit the FOCUS ON MICROSCOPY website: www.FocusOnMicroscopy.org<http://www.FocusOnMicroscopy.org> There, in addition to general information, the scientific program of previous FOM conferences – together with PDF’s of presented abstracts - can be found under the link “Past conferences”.

FOM2020 in Osaka will be the continuation of a yearly conference series (since 1988) on the latest innovations and developments predominantly in optical microscopy and their application in biology, medicine, and the material sciences.

Key topics are:
  *   Theory and practice of confocal and multiphoton-excitation microscopy
  *   Super-resolution, nanoscopy imaging: from PSF engineering (4pi, SIM, STED), fluorescent activation/quenching, stochastic/centroid (PALM, STORM, GSDIM, SOFI and related techniques) to TIRF
  *   3D and 4D live cell and tissue imaging
  *   Adaptive optics for microscopy
  *   Light sheet microscopy
  *   Phase/interference based microscopies
  *   OCT, holographic, endoscopy
  *   Advanced fluorescence imaging/spectroscopy: FRET, FRAP, FLIM, FCS, SOFI
  *   New fluorescence probes, proteins, quantum dots, single molecule imaging
  *   Clearing and expansion techniques.
  *   Coherent non-linear microscopies: SHG, THG, SFG, CARS.
  *   Multi-dimensional fluorescence and Raman spectroscopy imaging
  *   Correlated microscopies - light/electron etc.
  *   Laser manipulation and tracking, photo-activation
  *   OCT, endoscopy
  *   Fast acquisition, automated and high-content microscopy
  *   3D image processing and visualization/restoration, Self Learning, Artificial Intelligence

The conference series is in addition known for covering the rapid development of advanced fluorescence labelling techniques for (super)- resolution and multi-photon 3D imaging of -live- biological specimens.

A technical exhibition will be an integral part of the upcoming FOM2020 conference.
