FOCUS ON MICROSCOPY 2011 - Konstanz, Germany, April 17-20, 2011

24th International Conference on 3D Image Processing in Microscopy
23rd International Conference on Confocal Microscopy

Dear Colleagues,

The detailed program of FOM2011 can now be viewed on the website: http://www.FocusOnMicroscopy.org
where also the registration is open and hotel information is available.

Please note the February 28 deadline for early reduced fee registration.

Tutorial workshops are before the start of the conference (Sunday April 17, in the afternoon from 14:00h to 16:45h). Subjects are:

 - Overview and practical considerations in localized molecule microscopy
 - Fundamentals of fluorescence imaging
 - Protein labeling in living cells: Developments in fluorescent proteins and labeling with synthetic dyes
 - Measuring molecular dynamics by fluorescence recovery after photobleaching (FRAP) and single particle tracking (SPT)

Attendance is free. For details, see the program on the website.

Authors have been informed individually by email on the placement of their contribution in the program.

After the successful FOM2010 conference held in Shanghai, China this year, the upcoming Focus on Microscopy 2011 will take place in Konstanz, Germany in the week before Easter from Sunday April 17 to Wednesday April 20, 2011.

As the next in a series of unique interdisciplinary meetings on advanced multi-dimensional light microscopy and image processing, the conference will be sponsored by the University of Konstanz and will take place at the campus of this university.

Focus on Microscopy 2011 is the continuation of a yearly conference series presenting the latest innovations and new trends in optical microscopy and their application in biology, medicine and material sciences.

Key subjects are:
 - the theory and practice of multi-dimensional optical microscopy
 - super-resolution, nano-microscopy (SIM, STED, PALM, etc.)
 - nonlinear excitation techniques (SHG, Raman, THG, OCM) including label-free imaging (CARS, SRS)
 - fluorescence imaging modes including single-molecule approaches (FRET, FLIM, FCS)
 - Photo-perturbation methods (FRAP), photo-activation, photo-conversion, and quenching based functional imaging techniques for cell biology
 - laser-mediated manipulation of cells and tissues
 - fast-acquisition, automated and high-throughput microscopy techniques
 - related (3D) image processing and analysis approaches

The conference series is, in addition, known for covering the rapid development of advanced fluorescence labeling techniques for the confocal and multi-photon 3D imaging of -live- biological specimens.

Important dates:
Deadline for early registration: February 28, 2011
   Conference dates: April 17-20, 2011

To stay informed about the conference please leave your name and email at http://www.FocusOnMicroscopy.org/stayinformed
