To join, leave or search the confocal microscopy listserv, go to: http://lists.umn.edu/cgi-bin/wa?A0=confocalmicroscopy ***** FOCUS ON MICROSCOPY 2014 Sydney, Australia, April 13 – 16, 2014 27th International Conference on 3D Image Processing in Microscopy 26th International Conference on Confocal Microscopy Dear Colleagues, The detailed program of FOM2014 is now available on the website www.FocusOnMicroscopy.org<http://www.FocusOnMicroscopy.org> where also registration is open and hotel information available. Authors have been informed individually by email on the placement of their contribution in the program. Please note the March 11 deadline for reduced fee early registration. Tutorial workshops are offered before the start of the conference on Sunday April 13, in the afternoon from 14:00 to 16:45. Subjects and speakers are: * Fundamentals of fluorescence imaging (G.C. Cox, University of Sydney, Australia) * Software for reconstruction and analysis of light sheet microscopy datasets (Stephan Preibisch, Einstein college, NY, USA; Pavel Tomancak, Max Planck Institute, Dresden, Germany; Fernando Amat, Janelia Farms, Ashburn, Virginia, USA) * How to find the right camera for a microscopy application (Gerhard Holst, PCO, Germany and Eiji Toda, Hamamatsu, Japan) * Correlative light and electron microscopy (CLEM) - ultrastructure lights up (P. Verkade, B. Giepmans, W. Voorhout, S. Kinder & F. Braet ) Tutorial attendance is free for registered participants. See for details the program on the website. After the successful FOM2013 conference held in Maastricht, FOM2014 is the next in a series of unique interdisciplinary meetings on advanced multi-dimensional light microscopy and image processing. The upcoming Focus on Microscopy conference will take place in Sydney, Australia, in the week before Easter from Sunday April 13 to Wednesday April 16, 2014. For further details please visit the FOCUS ON MICROSCOPY website www.FocusOnMicroscopy.org<http://www.FocusOnMicroscopy.org>. There, in addition to general information, the scientific program of previous FOM conferences can be found under the link “Past conferences”. From 2004 onwards together with links in the scientific program to one page PDF abstracts of the contributions presented in that year. Also a “Search” function is available on the site. FOM2014 is the continuation of a yearly conference series, started in 1988, presenting the latest innovations and newest trends in optical microscopy, and their application in biology, medicine, and materials sciences. Key topics are: * Theory and practice of confocal and multiphoton-excitation microscopy * Super-resolution, nanoscopy imaging: from PSF engineering (4pi, SIM,STED), fluorescent activation/quenching, stochastic/centroid (PALM, STORM and related techniques) to TIRF * 3D and 4D live cell and tissue imaging * Adaptive optics for microscopy * Developments in phase/interference microscopies * Light sheet microscopy * Advanced fluorescence imaging/spectroscopy: FRET, FRAP, FLIM, FCS * New fluorescence probes, proteins, quantum dots, single molecule imaging * Coherent non-linear microscopies: SHG, THG, SFG, CARS. * Developments in phase/interference microscopies * Multi-dimensional fluorescence and Raman spectroscopy imaging * Correlated light/electron microscopy * Laser manipulation and tracking, photo-activation * Bio- and nano-materials, biosensors * OCT, endoscopy * Fast acquisition, automated and high-content microscopy * 3D image processing and visualization for multidimensional data At the 2014 conference the topic “Correlated and integrated light electron microscopy” will receive special attention. The conference series is in addition known for covering the rapid development of advanced fluorescence labeling techniques for confocal and multi-photon 3D imaging of -live- biological specimens. A technical exhibition will be an integral part of the Sydney FOM 2014 conference.
