I thought this meeting, organized by George Stanciu, might be of interest to the list.  It is a continuation of the series of small, intimate meetings which were organized by the late Vasil Sarafis, one of the pioneers of super-resolution and a very early adopter of confocal miceoscopy.

The 2012 Workshop on Super-resolution and Life Sciences is devoted to the fields of high-resolution imaging techniques and their applications within life sciences. The mission of this workshop is to promote the global exchange of knowledge by facilitating the open dialogue between scientists working in high-resolution imaging.  The workshop aims as well the identification of  collaborative research  subjects and research funding opportunities.

Topics of interest include (but are not limited to):

* laser scanning microscopy: confocal, TPE, STED, CARS, Raman
* scanning probe microscopy: AFM, STM, SNOM
* electron microscopy: TEM, SEM
* microscope image processing and computer vision
* high resolution imaging applications in life sciences
The city of Brasov is located almost in the centre of Romania and is surrounded by the Carpathian Mountains. It is one of the most visited cities in Transylvania, Romania as it provides   a mix of wonderful mountain scenery in the nearby Poiana Braşov and medieval history with German influences in the old town. The city is 176 km from Bucharest.
