Dear Microscopy Community,

We have a multiple positions at the interface of microscopy and biochemistry/cell biology at South Dakota State University as part of the newly formed Biochemical Spatio-temporal NeTwork Resource (BioSNTR).  These include postdoctoral, research associate and tenure-track faculty hires.   Please spread the word!

Postodoctoral positions are in microscopy, macrophage cell biology and transcriptome analysis.  For more information, please email me directly.

Research Associate and Faculty Job descriptions below:

Research Associate II in High Content Analysis
Description:  The Laboratory of Dr. Adam Hoppe and the multidisciplinary Biochemical Spatio-temporal NeTwork Resource (BioSNTR) is seeking a highly motivated Research Associate to develop a High Content Analysis/High Content Screening research platform.   The successful candidates will be responsible for devising and implementing new strategies to quantify receptor transport and signaling in macrophages.  This position will also be responsible for general application of HCA to other BioSNTR projects as well as collaboration with industry.   Candidates with expertise in HCA, image analysis, flow cytometry and FACS encouraged to apply.   Resources for this project include a new high content analysis core, access to bioinformatics expertise and a suite of tools for manipulating membrane traffic and signaling in macrophages.  SDSU actively seeks to increase social and intellectual diversity among its faculty and staff.  Women and persons underrepresented in higher education are encouraged to apply.
For questions on the position contact Adam Hoppe at [hidden email]<mailto:[hidden email]> or (605) 688-5315.

Assistant Professor – Biochemistry
Two 9-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor positions in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry
Availability:  Positions can be filled beginning in August 2015. Funding for summer appointment will be available. Review of applications begins on February 17, 2015 and continues until the positions are filled.

Description:  South Dakota is expanding its research capacity and graduate education in biochemistry and bioinformatics as part of a $31 million investment. At the center of this undertaking is a distributed research center called The Biochemical SpatioTemporal Network Resource (BioSNTR, www.sdepscor.org/biosntr/index.php). As the lead in this initiative, the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at South Dakota State University (chembiochem.sdstate.edu) seeks to fill two tenure-track Assistant Professor positions in computational or experimental biochemistry, biophysical chemistry, or closely related disciplines. The Department seeks to add research expertise in: 1) computational biochemistry at the interface of biochemical pathways and structure/function analyses; 2) experimental analysis of signaling and trafficking pathways analysis via high-content microscopy in conjunction with genetic and compound screening; 3) experimental analysis of biochemical function across the molecular-cellular-tissue level continuum via expertise in multi-photon microscopy.

The successful applicants must demonstrate the ability to establish a nationally competitive research program supported by extramural funding both individually and via large BioSNTR collaborative projects, and achieve excellence in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels to successfully achieve tenure and promotion. The Department has recently completed a $60 million building construction/renovation project. It has well-equipped imaging, microscopy, NMR and MS core facilities. A competitive start-up package will be offered to help the successful applicant establish their laboratory.

Required Qualifications:  An earned Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Biophysical Chemistry, or a closely related discipline; a research focus that complements existing departmental and BioSNTR strengths; demonstrated potential to establish an independent, externally funded research program, demonstrated potential to achieve teaching excellence, effective oral and written communication skills, and effective interpersonal skills.

Desired Qualifications:  Post-doctoral or equivalent experience and prior experience with federal research grants.

For questions on the position contact Brian Logue at [hidden email]<mailto:[hidden email]> or (605) 688-6698.

APPLICATION PROCESS:  SDSU accepts applications through an on-line employment site.  To apply, visit:  https://yourfuture.sdbor.edu<https://yourfuture.sdbor.edu/>, search by the position title, view the job announcement, and click on “apply for this posting.”  The system will guide you through the electronic application form.  The employment site will also require the attachment of a cover letter, which should specifically address how the candidate meets the qualifications as outlined in the advertisement, CV or resume, and a reference page with the contact information for three professional references.  Please contact SDSU Human Resources at (605) 688-4128 if you require assistance with the electronic application process.  Paper applications will not be accepted.
