Colleagues:

The University of Cape Town, in Cape Town, South Africa, has invited FloCyte Regional Training Program to present the Success in Cytometry Course on October 25, 2011.  Many thanks to Dr. Nazma Mansoor at the South African Tuberculosis Vaccine Initiative
[  http://www.satvi.uct.ac.za/  ] for the invitation and hosting this course.  Our instructor for the course is Richard Konz, Assistant Professor and Director of the Flow Cytometry Core Facility at University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester, MA, USA.

This one day course is geared for researchers or clinicians who utilize flow cytometry as a tool to benefit their primary research or clinical objectives.  This is also a valuable, informative course and open discussion session for anyone using flow cytometry or working in a flow cytometry lab who wish to expand their knowledge base.  The topics covered can be found at  http://www.flocyte.org<http://www.flocyte.org/>  and include all the essential elements to achieve success in cytometry including appropriate controls; how and when to use them, how calibration and daily quality control of instruments impacts experimental data, how to set appropriate voltages, understanding compensation, and basics of data presentation.

We're offering a special discounted price for this unique offering in South Africa,  just R1500!

Announcement for the program is found below.  Application is at the website  www.FloCyte.org<http://www.flocyte.org/>  under the training pull down menu. For questions about the program, or for information on the topics covered you are welcome to contact me directly [ [hidden email]<mailto:[hidden email]> ] or Sue DeMaggio at [  [hidden email]<mailto:[hidden email]>  ].  Specific Information on attending such as the venue will be distributed to registrants as we get closer to the date.

This will be a beautiful venue for our course.  Plan to stay a few extra days [or weeks] to enjoy the scenery, beaches, superb wine, food, wildlife and of course the people of Cape Town. You can also join me for some scuba diving and of course to jump into the water with the Great White Sharks.  I may even use a cage!

All my best regards and I hope to see you in Cape Town at the course.

-Rich
