Dear all,

The Department of Cellular Neurology at the Hertie Institute for Clinical
Brain Research in Tübingen, Germany, which is also part of the German Center
of Neurodegenerative Disease is offering a

PhD and/or Postdoc position

with a focus on state-of-the-art multiphoton microscopy for in vivo imaging
of Alzheimer lesions in transgenic mouse models.

Our aim is to understand the development, progression and diverse impact of
Alzheimer-associated amyloid lesions on brain function over time. To achieve
these goals we use advanced in vivo multiphoton microscopy techniques and
transgenic mouse models of Alzheimer’s disease.

Our laboratory has a high level of expertise in imaging techniques for
studying long-term dynamics of amyloid lesions (Hefendehl et al., J.
Neurosci 31: 624-629, 2011; Hefendehl et al., J. Neurosci Meth 205: 357–363,
2012). As part of an international interdisciplinary consortium we
characterize and use novel amyloid-binding dyes. Our young group is
international and offers a stimulating scientific environment in which
research is carried out at different levels of neuroscience, microscopy and
image analysis.

We are looking for a highly motivated person with a background in
neuroscience or related fields. A strong interest in in vivo imaging and
neurodegenerative diseases is essential. Experience in 2-photon microscopy
and/or stereotactic surgery is desirable.

Informal enquiries and applications should be addressed to Bettina
Wegenast-Braun ([hidden email]) or Mathias Jucker
([hidden email]) by July 10th.

Thank you
Angelos
