A while ago we had a pretty good discussion on the use of GPUs in image analysis software. I just came across a little news article that says Adobe CS4 (i.e. photoshop) will support GPU processing for some functions:

its a good start. The acceleration is CS4 will be using OpenGL, so it won't accelerate functions that need high end number crunching, only those that will use pixel rendering/drawing functions (such as zooming and rotating). Once they start coding using the CUDA (or ATIs equivalent) language then everything wil be acclerated.
