Hi, Josh. I had the same problem - the belt began to shred and wouldn't
turn the lenses to the correct position reproducibly. I'm also not under
warranty any more and the full service contract is prohibitively expensive.
I called Perkin Elmer and asked if they could sell me just that part and i
could replace it myself, but they apparently don't have it available any
more - the new units use a more robust way of turning the turret which
doesn't use this kind of belt. They quoted me a replacement of the entire
"Lens Rotation Stage Assembly", which, with installation, cost me nearly
$10k (Canadian). I searched high and low for my own replacement but
couldn't find one so i had to go ahead with this as we had animals waiting
to be imaged. I know this doesn't help you to solve your problem, but with
the imaging community expressing dissatisfaction together maybe they will
begin to offer a less expensive solution!
Cheers,
James
