We have a PE/Caliper IVIS that is not on service contract
The belt that moves the filter wheel is shredding and needs to be replaced
Does anyone have experience doing this on their own?
Alternatively does anyone know anybody that could come in to do it?

Thanks!

Hi, Josh.  I had the same problem - the belt began to shred and wouldn't
turn the lenses to the correct position reproducibly.  I'm also not under
warranty any more and the full service contract is prohibitively expensive.
I called Perkin Elmer and asked if they could sell me just that part and i
could replace it myself, but they apparently don't have it available any
more - the new units use a more robust way of turning the turret which
doesn't use this kind of belt.  They quoted me a replacement of the entire
"Lens Rotation Stage Assembly", which, with installation, cost me nearly
$10k (Canadian).  I searched high and low for my own replacement but
couldn't find one so i had to go ahead with this as we had animals waiting
to be imaged.  I know this doesn't help you to solve your problem, but with
the imaging community expressing dissatisfaction together maybe they will
begin to offer a less expensive solution!

Cheers,
James
