Dear All

The IGMM has an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced image analyst to support the work of the Advanced Imaging Resource, www.igmm.ac.uk/imaging.htm<http://www.igmm.ac.uk/imaging.htm>. The IGMM has invested strongly in advanced imaging platforms including Super-resolution Imaging, Confocal and Light Sheet Imaging, High Content Screening of Cells and Tissues. The post is to provide support for the existent image processing packages and develop bespoke scripting and informatics approaches needed for more advanced and complex imaging projects. Preference will be given to candidates with ImageJ/Fiji and associated packages such as Cellprofiler, Micromanager and Knime.

More information here:

http://www.jobs.ac.uk/job/AKT229/image-informatician/

The successful candidate will be embedded in the IGMM advanced imaging facility and work closely with the imaging team and the Bioinformatics service. The post offers the opportunity to work on cutting edge problems with distinguished scientists and consortia, such as ESRIC, the Edinburgh Drug Discovery Unit and the Centre for Comparative Pathology and will have a critical role in development of analysis methods for a broad range of leading scientific projects.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both biomedical research and computational analysis with experience in bioinformatics. They will possess excellent communication skills and genuine enthusiasm for exploring the interface between computational and experimental biology. Since the post is to provide core support for a variety of different projects flexibility, time management and project management skills will be required.

The post is for an initial term of 2 years.
