The Biomedical Imaging Unit (BIU), one of the UK's leading imaging facilities, provides a research and diagnostic microscopy service for the University of Southampton and University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS). With over 200 users, this busy Unit is extremely well equipped with a wide range of light and electron microscopes including our recently acquired 3D microscopes (light sheet, 3View & micro-CT). We carry out microscopy on a diverse range of biological and non-biological samples from across the University and carry out diagnostic electron microscopy for UHS and other hospitals across the country and abroad.
We are looking for someone to facilitate and oversee the analysis and processing of the imaging data that our users acquire from these and our other microscopes. This data is in the form of 2D, 3D and 4D data sets. The position is a permanent Experimental Officer post (Band 4 on the UK Academic Technical and Experimental Scale).
