The recently expanded Imaging Core of the Lerner Research Institute (LRI) at
the Cleveland Clinic is seeking a Research Associate or Senior Technologist to
provide support for advanced microscope imaging technologies in a multi-user
environment. The LRI core is the primary resource for microscopic imaging at
the Cleveland Clinic and surrounding institutions and as such supports several
hundred individual labs. We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join
our team.

Responsibilities:

* Assists users with advanced applications such as confocal, multiphoton,
FRET and FRAP microscopy
* Provides training in the use of advanced microscope systems
* Provides advice and input regarding experimental design and execution of
research protocols including staining recommendations
* Provides troubleshooting of both experimental and technical problems with
the goal of optimizing techniques and improving understanding of biological
questions
* Provides post-acquisition image processing (3D/4D)
* Maintains equipment in good working order and troubleshoots both hardware
and software issues

Requirements:

Considerable experience with multiphoton and confocal imaging

High degree of computer literacy, including image analysis (ImagePro Plus,
Metamorph, and Volocity), and scientific illustration (Adobe Photoshop

A broad knowledge of scientific principles, biological structures, general
laboratory techniques, and data analysis

Experience with mammalian tissue culture and multi-color fluorescence
immunostaining

Ability to identify equipment problems and troubleshoot solutions, including
contact with vendor engineers

Some experience with FRET and FRAP techniques

Sound interpersonal skills with the ability to teach and advise client scientists

Strong and effective analytical, organizational, and communication skills

B.S., M.S. or Ph.D. in Biology or related field with at least two years
experience with confocal and/or multiphoton microscopy.
