Please follow these links or read the posting below. https://bit.ly/2J3fd2F https://hcbi.fas.harvard.edu/ Thanks, Doug 31-May-2018 Imaging Specialist Faculty of Arts and Sciences 45914BR Job Code 399057 Technical, Other Duties & Responsibilities The Harvard Center for Biological Imaging (HCBI) seeks a full-time Imaging Specialist to assist with operations in a fast-paced and exciting light microscopy environment. The HCBI provides access to over a dozen high-end light microscopes, multiple image processing workstations, and sample preparation equipment. We service over 600 users throughout Harvard, as well as other local academic centers and industry. The HCBI is a unique “Evergreen” facility whereby our leased equipment is replaced every three years; ensuring users always have access to cutting-edge equipment. Imaging services include confocal, multi-photon, super-resolution, lightsheet, TIRF, whole slide scanning, high content screening, live cell imaging, macroscopy, laser microdissection, fluorescence lifetime imaging (FLIM), and tissue clearing. *Responsibilities:* The Imaging Specialist will serve as a primary contact for new user training for both basic and advanced light microscopy techniques, the first point of contact for questions arising from the use of HCBI imaging systems, and a key advisor to HCBI users regarding experimental design and image analysis. The Imaging Specialist will assist with maintenance of microscopes and other facility equipment through weekly cleaning, performance monitoring, troubleshooting software and hardware issues, and coordinating repairs with local service engineers. They will serve as the biological safety officer for the lab and will support various administrative tasks such as website updates and preparing materials for upcoming symposia and workshops. Finally, the Imaging Specialist will participate in teaching activities at bi-monthly Lunch and Learn lectures and annual workshops. Basic Qualifications - A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in science, engineering or related field - A minimum of three years' of research experience - Demonstrated knowledge of microscopy theory and previous experience using multiple light microscopy techniques Additional Qualifications - An MA or PhD in science, engineering, or related field is highly preferred. (MA, PhD can count towards experience). - Experience with any or all of the following software packages is desirable: ZEN, SymPhoTime 64, Fiji/ImageJ, arivis vision 4D, Imaris, and Cell Profiler. - Programming experience in Java, Python or Matlab is a plus. - Strong communication in English (both written and verbal) and excellent interpersonal skills are essential. - Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and maneuver around and under large tables and equipment. |
