We are hiring an imaging specialist for the Dartmouth Biomedical community, which comprises the Geisel School of Medicine, the Departments of Biology and Chemistry, and the Thayer School of Engineering. We are looking for a person with substantive fluorescence imaging and analysis experience, who wants to work with laboratories to develop and establish new imaging approaches to drive a range of projects, examples being mammalian cell division; mitophagy and mitochondrial dynamics in yeast and mammals; protein design; early development in Drosophila, C. elegans, and plants; viral infection; and yeast cell size control. Most projects would involve dynamic imaging of live cells, cell-free systems or groups of cells (eg. embryos or tumors). We have a range of equipment to address these questions (epifluorescence, spinning disk confocal, laser scanning confocal/Airyscan, multi-photon, and TIRF), and one role of the position will be to stimulate addition of new imaging modalities. While there will be some ‘core’ duties as well, a project-oriented, problem-solving capability will be an important aspect of the position.
