We use state-of-the-art microscopy techniques and cellular and animal models to answer pressing biological questions in cancer, lymphatic and nerve biology, and inflammation. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in fluorescence microscopy, and excellent communication and organizational skills. Additional responsibilities may include supervision of undergraduate research projects and laboratory management. This is a full-time, hourly, benefit-eligible position. RESPONSIBILITIES: - Performs intravital and other microscopy techniques including: o Epifluorescence microscopy o Confocal microscopy o Multiphoton microscopy - Designs, performs, documents, and interprets results of laboratory experiments - Breeds and genotypes transgenic mice and manages colonies - Manages laboratory operations including: o Ordering supplies and reagents o Maintaining laboratory equipment o Record-keeping o Organization o May oversee undergraduate research projects - Prepares manuscripts for publication and presents data at local, regional, or national meetings MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: - Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry, Biology, or related science and one year of research experience OR - Master's degree in Biochemistry, Biology, or related science Other requirements: - Appropriate level of critical thinking and math skills to perform laboratory experiments - Effective written communication skills - Effective verbal communication and interpersonal skills PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Additional 1-2 years of research experience - Experience working with and managing laboratory mice - Microscopy experience SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications.
