Dear Colleagues,
Registration is still open for the 9th Laboratory for Fluorescence
Dynamics (LFD) Workshop in Advanced Fluorescence Imaging and Dynamics to
be held on October 2731, 2014, at the University of California Irvine.
This workshop offers the unique opportunity to have hands on training on
advanced methods in molecular dynamics and biophysics.
The workshop consists of:
1) advanced theoretical lectures by LFD scientists and invited speakers.
2) computer based training on data analysis and simulations using Globals
for Images software.
3) hands on laboratory training using the fluorescence microscopy
instrumentation of the LFD facility.
The workshop is designed for students who use fluorescence microscopy
instrumentation and techniques, as well as for researchers and industrial
scientists who intend to extend their knowledge of these fields.
Topics on the agenda:
1) Single Point and Scanning Fluorescence Correlation Spectroscopy (FCS)
2) Raster Image Correlation Spectroscopy (RICS)
3) Fluorescence Lifetime Imaging (FLIM) and Förster Resonance Energy
Transfer (FRET)
4) Number and Brightness (N&B) for mapping protein aggregation
5) Particle Tracking (PT) in three dimensions
6) Deep tissue imaging
The participants will also be given an opportunity to do experiments and
present their results at the end of the workshop.
REGISTRATION AWARD FOR STUDENTS: There will be 6 registration waivers for
students. The winners will have the opportunity to present their work as a
poster during the workshop. Please submit a short abstract of your work
(half page) and a support letter from your advisor before September 26,
2014.
