Burnham
Institute for Medical Research,
an independent, non-profit, public-benefit basic research organization,
located
in La Jolla, California, is seeking a Research
Assistant
to join the Cell Imaging Facility, a Shared Resource that serves the
whole
Institute.
We
are looking
for a qualified individual, who, under supervision of the Cell Imaging
Facility
director, will handle routine maintenance of core facility fluorescent
and
laser scanning confocal microscopes, train and assist users from many
different
research laboratories in microscope operation and troubleshooting. In
addition, this individual will assist users with microscope image
capture, data processing, and analysis, as well as perform the record
keeping
for facility usage and billing.
This
position
requires bachelor's degree or master's degree in Biology, and interest
in
Computer Science (or a degree in Computer Science with an interest in
Biology),
with 2-3 years of research experience. Previous experience with
microscopy is required.
The
successful
candidate must possess excellent organizational and communication
skills, as
well as work independently.
