Position:Applications specialist Life Science Imaging Products Department:Product Marketing Reporting to:Senior Product Manager Type: Permanent, full-time, salary Job Description: Photometrics seeks an energetic scientist with extensive bio-imaging expertise, market knowledge. Reporting to the Senior Product Manager, the Applications Scientist will work closely with product marketing, R&D, sales and customers to identify, evaluate and develop new applications for all Photometrics products. The initial focus will be on: Managing a Scientific Advisory Board to maintain Photometrics close connection with the users of our products Assist with defining requirements for the technology/product road-map to accommodate end user requirements Writing technical notes, white papers and application notes to help notify users of the products features and capabilities Taking technical lead on the Photometrics multi-channel product line with respect to application and filter-set requirements and technical publications The Application Scientist will be expected to actively seek new applications appropriate for Photometrics technologies and business strategy, design and conduct experiments with collaborating laboratories to test and optimize products for current and developing applications. The Applications specialist should also develop business recommendations to contribute to successful product development. He/she will also be responsible for managing the applications lab, and preparing equipment and samples for the field demo team. The position will be based out of the company headquarters in Tucson, AZ. Travel up to 25% may be required. Job Responsibilities: 1. Screen and identify new applications for Photometrics products. 2. Prepare technical data to address customer needs in cell biology and drug discovery and other areas in support of marketing and business development programs. 3. Present results as application notes, journal publications, seminar presentations, performance comparisons, case studies, white papers, value analysis and other formats that clearly highlight product benefits to customers. 4. Help define meaningful and measurable application-based performance specifications. 5. Conduct experiments with the R&D team during the development of new products to ensure performance meets customer requirements for key applications. 6. Identify needs, trends, and issues from collaborators and industry thought leaders, and translate into new product and application opportunities. 7. Manage applications laboratory and demo inventory. 8. Work with field product specialist team to track, evaluate and develop application opportunities arising from demos. Requirements: Requires at least a M.Sc (Ph.D. preferred). in cell biology, biochemistry, molecular biology or similar life science discipline. Requires a minimum of 3 years laboratory experience working with imaging science techniques. Experience with life science imaging instrumentation is desirable. Strong leadership and relationship-building skills; supervisory experience is desirable. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Exceptional problem-solving ability.
