The Spanish National Cancer Centre Confocal Microscopy Unit is looking for
a microscopy specialist.
Job Description
The specialist will be responsible for routine maintenance of the infrastructure
in the Imaging Facility which includes:
- Confocal
microscopes, Multiphoton (Leica TCS-SP2 and TCS SP5)
- Epi-fluorescence
microscopes (Leica DMRIB, Delta vision RT)
- Opera system for HTS
- number of image
analysis workstations.
Duties will also include consultations with users, basic training,
setting up of user accounts, trouble shooting system problems as well as sample
preparation issues.
Assisting users with post acquisition data processing.
Continued development of training modules, and some administrative
duties
The microscopy specialist will also be expected to assist in planning
and implementing workshops on such topics as confocal microscopy, live cell
imaging and image processing.
Experience
Minimum BSc in Biology, Biochemistry, Physiology, Cell Biology or a related field.
Experience with light microscopy (including confocal and epi
fluorescence) is a minimal requirement.
Must have good interpersonal skills and be able to work with many
different people.
Live cell imaging would be an asset.
Familiarity with advance image analysis and experience with Definiens, Imaris,
MetaMorph, Volocity or, Image J, as well as downstream applications such as
Adobe Photoshop, or Adobe Illustrator would be an asset.
