A research faculty level position at the URMC 2-photon facility has
opened.  

The job description is as follows:

The University of Rochester Medical Center is seeking an enthusiastic,
dedicated self-starter to lead and direct the Multiphoton Imaging
Resource. The University¹s Shared Resource Laboratories (SRLs) are
critical for the efficient operation of a research-intensive institution
competing and collaborating in the global medical research market.
Effective leadership of an SRL require a unique combination of scientific
research skills, managerial skills, and business acumen.   The URMC
Multiphoton facility currently contains an Olympus Fluoview 1000 AOE-MPE
equipped with a Spectra-Physics MaiTai HP DeepSee Ti:Sa laser as well as
the associated equipment necessary for intravital imaging.
The successful candidate will hold a PhD in biology, biophysics, or
related fields with postdoctoral experience in intravital imaging using
multiphoton microscopy.  Experience with the Olympus Fluoview 1000 MPE
system as well as experience in development and implementation of
intravital experiments is required.  Experience with training is preferred.
As director of the facility, the successful candidate will oversee the
day-to-day operation of the MIR to support the research needs of the UR
investigators.  This includes:

* Communicating with investigators to determine experimental needs
* Setting goals and expectations for workflow in the facility
* Completing projects in a timely fashion
* Developing and implementing training to investigators on the instrument
* Providing general training to highlight power and potential of
technology (Marketing)
* Developing and optimizing new and novel assays
* Partnering with the Vivarium to optimize of surgical techniques
* Evaluating new technologies
* Writing grants to acquire of new and complementary technology
* Working with Medical School Finance to develop and administer guidelines
for pricing, personnel issues and billing/collection procedures
* Attending and presenting at regional and national meetings
* Establishing collaborations with other regional facilities
* Contribute to written scholarship, including developing over time one¹s
own scholarship related to these activities and multiphoton expertise
* Contribute to investigator grant applications through data presentation,
writing and review of applications as appropriate.

The successful candidate will receive a research appointment and salary
commensurate with experience.
