In order to meet the increasing needs of the microscopy facility in the area of superresolution microscopy, the Microscopy and Advanced Bioimaging Core seeks to hire a service-oriented, highly motivated Senior Scientist to join its current team. This provides a unique opportunity to develop and apply diverse imaging techniques, and work on image acquisition, processing, and analysis in a multidisciplinary environment with researchers and medical doctors. It is an exciting position with a clear career path, and the candidate will have the chance to be involved with a breadth of applications in a dynamic environment in one of the biggest research institutes and hospitals in the heart of New York City.

Responsibilities Include
* Training staff, researchers and graduate students on a variety of microscopes, imaging best practices, and imaging data analysis.
* Ensuring smooth operation and basic maintenance of certain microscopes and equipment. Perform other administrative duties, as needed.
* Helping scientists to develop hypotheses, design their imaging experiments on the appropriate imaging systems, and build image analysis pipelines and data flows using a variety of open-source and commercial software packages.
* Participating in scientific projects from inception to execution.
* Identifying gaps in current offerings of the Microscopy Core and developing proposals to support the acquisition of instrumentation, implementation of novel technologies, and techniques to support those needs.
* Communicating and disseminating research results to the scientific community by developing, coordinating, presenting, and participating in seminars, courses, workshops, and through publications.

Essential Requirements
* PhD in Biology, Physics, Computer Science, Mathematics or Engineering. A master's degree with extensive relevant experience will be considered.
* Extensive experience in light microscopy experiment design, execution, and analysis. Candidates with Super-Resolution and/or programming experience are preferred.
* An enthusiastic approach to problem solving and a desire and passion for learning, and an eagerness to explore new techniques.
* Fluency in English and excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Ability to work in a team but also unsupervised.
