The Microscopy CORE at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York is looking for an Associate Researcher II. The CORE has 30 years of experience in image acquisition and analysis and is growing. We are equipped with high-end optical and electron microscopes and we have a proven track record of aiding ISMMS researchers in answering diverse scientific questions central to biomedical research.
We are looking for a person with genuine curiosity and enthusiasm. Must be eager to work with people having various levels of expertise and a wide variety of experimental applications and goals. Successful applicants will be expected to develop and troubleshoot imaging and image analysis protocols and to lead workshops and teaching sessions. Must have strong communication skills.

Responsibilities:


*      Train and assist researchers to use high-end microscopy tools

*      Conduct experiments using advanced imaging techniques

*      Assist with analysis and interpretation of imaging data

*      Assist in the development of new and unexpected research experiments and techniques

*      Help generate and prepare samples for imaging

*      Present information and develop workshops and protocols designed to educate researchers on best practices/best use of imaging approaches

*      Screen and test novel microscopy based instruments

*      Interact and communicate with researchers at all levels

*      Help with project management

*      Help calibrate and maintain instrumentation

*      Perform other related duties

Qualifications:


*      Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics or biological sciences and at least 2 years of experience in a research environment.

*      or Master's degree in engineering, physics or biological sciences and at least 1 year of research experience

*      or PhD in engineering, physics or biological science

*      Experience in microscopy and image analysis is essential, strong computing skills are preferred, knowledge of optics and fluorophores is a plus

*      Genuine curiosity and ability to problem-solve under ambiguity and deadlines

*      Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to interact with all-levels audiences

*      Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task

*      Team player, strong desire to teach and learn
