seeks an Applications Scientist for its Denver, Colorado location. 3i is a
leading manufacturer of advanced light microscopy systems, primarily
serving the academic biomedical research community, with thousands of
hardware and software systems installed throughout the world. 3i’s diverse
hardware installations cover spinning disc confocal, 2-Photon, TIRF, &
widefield microscopy platforms, as well as the Lattice Light Sheet, diSPIM,
and 3i’s advanced photomanipulation tools, including Vector, Phasor, and
Ablate.  3i was founded in 1995 and is based in Denver, Colorado and
Göttingen, Germany, with additional field staff elsewhere in the United
States and Europe.

LOCATION: River North Art District of Denver, Colorado

DEPARTMENT: Sales

CLASSIFICATION:  Full time, Exempt

REPORTS TO:  Co-President

*QUALIFICATIONS:*

-Ph.D. in Biological or Physical Sciences

-Experience in Microscopy

-Previous experience in a sales or support position highly desired

*RESPONSIBILITIES:*

The Applications Scientist is the principal conduit for 3i sales.  Our
sales approach is one of deep consulting where 3i understands the
customers’ microscopy needs and designs custom solutions within the
framework of existing products and possible Research & Development.   This
position involves extensive domestic and international travel to customer
sites. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.



*Sales/Application Consulting*

Understand the scientific framework, suggest optimal equipment, perform
demos, do data analysis and ultimately translate these skills into sales.

*Installation and Training*

Possess intimate knowledge of the individual customers’ scientific needs;
therefore, is responsible for the final installation and training of the
equipment they sell.

*Marketing & Teaching*

Assist with and attend trade shows such as Society for Neuroscience and
American Society for Cell Biology.  Teaches microscopy courses such as
Analytical
& Quantitative Light Microscopy or Imaging Neurons.

*Customer Support*

Assist with customer support to keep instruments functional in the field.
Provide pre and post sales application support to develop and sustain
effective business relationships with clients.  Manage customer accounts
and regularly communicates with customers to ensure satisfaction and
enhance business relations.

*ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:*

Ø  Strong business acumen

Ø  Lift and move heavy equipment

Ø  Possess sufficient personal mobility, stamina and flexibility that
requires bending, stooping, kneeling, stretching, other physical exertions,
finger dexterity and visual acuity

Ø  Travel (domestic and international)

Ø  Possess a valid driver’s license and be able to drive for company
business

Ø  Work safely with lasers and microscopic, optical and electrical systems

Ø  Legally eligible for employment in the United States

Ø  Successfully pass a pre-employment background check

Ø  Agree to and sign 3i’s confidentiality, non-compete, employment agreement

*WORKING ENVIRONMENT**:*

Primarily normal office working conditions in a light manufacturing
setting. The noise level in the work environment is quiet to moderate. Use
personal protective equipment required to prevent exposure to hazards.
