*** COMMERCIAL ANNOUNCEMENT – JOB POSTING ***

Microscopy software company, Mission Bay Imaging, Inc. (MBI) supports and
enhances Micro-Manager, the Open Source software package for control of
automated microscopes.  MBI is searching for imaging applications software
engineers to complete projects for hardware manufacturers and for academic
researchers.

Hardware manufacturers have contacted MBI to integrate their devices into
Micro-Manager as well as create custom software interfaces to allow for easy
development of new applications.  

Academic researchers require software development assistance from MBI to
help them create novel imaging applications using Micro-Manager, including
confocal and multi-photon technologies.

MBI is a software development company aims to support and enhance Micro-
Manager in order to accelerate its adoption. Open Source Micro-Manager
platform integrates the control of all scientific-grade microscopes and
associated robotic components across multiple manufacturers and equipment
into a single unified software platform.

Mission Bay Imaging advances research by facilitating the creation of custom
solutions for state-of-the-art imaging experiments and the integration of new
microscopy components into Micro-Manager.


*** Overview ***
Imaging Applications Software Engineer required for Mission Bay Imaging, a
start up that builds and support Open Source advanced microscopy image
automation software.

*** Responsibilities ***
Independently work to develop well-designed software for the light microscopy
imaging market
Project work initially, full time employment available subsequently

*** Experience ***
Experience in developing machine control software, ideally for microscopy
equipment
The ideal candidate has Life Science research experience with automated
microscopes and programming experience with Micro-Manager

*** Skills ***
Proficiency in C++, Java and SWING and familiarity with Object Oriented
design principles as well as an advanced understanding of fundamental
computer science principles - familiarity with multiple platforms (Windows,
Linux or Mac) is a plus

*** Education ***
Preferred a BS in Engineering or other scientific discipline with advanced
software skills
PhD in Life Sciences with programming experience is ideal

*** Compensation ***
Project base work with fees to be determined jointly
