Job title: Light Sheet Specialist Location: The Francis Crick Institute, Midland Road, London Contract: Fixed-term (3 years), Full time Salary: Competitive with benefits, subject to skills and experience Vacancy ID: 4783 SHORT INTRODUCTION/SUMMARY The position of Light Sheet Specialist (LSS) will work within the Crick Advanced Light Microscopy Science and Technology Platform (CALM STP) to support the imaging needs of scientists at the Francis Crick Institute. The Light Sheet Specialist will be a member of the CALM STP and report to the Head of CALM. Beyond the provision of basic training and assistance they will help select research projects to support in greater depth, and work on these projects in close association with CRGs. PROJECT SCOPE/ DESCRIPTION Imaging is a cornerstone technology underpinning science at the Crick. Achieving our research goals across diverse areas including developmental biology, neuroscience, and cancer requires imaging thicker specimens, such as spheroids, organiods, and developmental model organisms. This includes both live imaging of fluorescent-proteins and imaging of fixed, antibody stained samples which may also require use of tissue clearing methods. To meet this challenge we now seek a Light Sheet Microscopy Specialist to work within the CALM STP to support Crick Research Groups (CRGs) in the investigation of a wide range of exciting scientific questions.
